I love a quick and easy recipe. Especially if it's dessert!
I know Strawberry Shortcake is already an easy dessert to throw together for any picnic, holiday, or get together. When I decided to make it, I wanted to make it a little "better for you" if you will. Simply changing out a few ingredients for a little "healthier" options can cut quite a few calories and still allow you to enjoy a wonderful refreshing dessert.
"Better for You" Strawberry Shortcake
1 pint fresh strawberries
2 tablespoons Truvia
1/3 cup water
1 angel food cake (mine is store bought)
Cool whip (optional)
Wash your strawberries and cut into small bite size pieces into a bowl. After berries have all been cut up, sprinkle Truvia over them. Pour in the water, toss and cover. Refrigerate for at least an hour.
When ready, cut a slice of angel food cake, put strawberries and juice over cake. Enjoy. If you're feeling a little naughty add a dollop of cool whip.
It's that easy! Enjoy!
